全球氣候變遷，近年來每逢大雨經常伴隨淹水的情況，暴漲的水位覆蓋了路面、溝渠與河道，導致行人和駕駛容易誤闖水深的區域而發生危險。 「光界線」是一個淹水時運作的路面警示裝置，主要是由水電池、水位感應器和LED所組成。平時由公路養護單位設置在鄰近溝渠或河岸的道路兩側，淹水時，裝置內的感應器一旦偵測到路面上的水位過高，「光界線」就會利用水電池與水反應所產生的電力從水下發出警示的紅光直達水面形成一道分界線，藉此區隔道路和非道路，協助用路人辨識安全的行進路線，避免落入水深的區域。 In recent years, heavy rain frequently brings flooding conditions. The water filled the entire road and ran above the gutter and the river. It caused pedestrians and drivers could easily fall into the deep water. “Light Boundary” is a roadway warning device designed for flooding conditions. It is made up of a water battery, a water level sensor and LEDs. This device was set along the gutter or the river by Highways Department. When the sensor senses the water level on the roadway is too high, Light Boundary will project red light on the water surface to form a visible borderline to help people identify safe area and avoid the accidents.
