One of China's most popular folk arts is paper-cutting. Archaeological finds trace the tradition back to the 6th century; it is supposed that the beginnings of paper-cutting were even a few centuries earlier. Paper-cuttings are used for religious purposes, for decoration and as patterns. In order to promote the Chinese Paper-cutting to Foreigners, I combined the beauty of English letters and Chinese Paper-cutting. There are basic cut outs, that are a single image. And there are symmetrical designs that are usually created by some folding over a proportioned crease, and then cutting some shape. When unfolded, it forms a symmetrical design. The paper cut outs are usually in an even number series of 2, 4, 24 etc.
