Taiwan is a wonderful island that is well known for its diverse natural resources, which contain eleven of the twelve soil types all over the world. Catchy Crust is revealing these treasures to the public, by demonstrating the different soil types with an edible medium, known as a "biscuit." The biscuits are made from flour, eggs, sugar and other seasonal ingredients. They are then used as a metaphor to introduce each type of soil seen in Taiwan, identifiable through their appearance and texture.

For instance, the biscuit with sea salt represents “Aridisol,” (a soil order in USDA soil taxonomy) which can be found in Qigu, Tainan, a district famous for salt pans and which contains a higher proportion of salt. Another example is the biscuit with shiny and translucent sugar granules. It stands for the soil type “Andisol” (a soil order in USDA soil taxonomy) that contains transparent crystals because of volcanic activities and are found in Yangmingshan National Park, Taipei. The soil biscuits made by Catchy Crust feature soil characteristics in several corners of Taiwan and enable the consumers to relish the delicacy and appreciate the beauty of this island, Taiwan.
